Pregnancy-Symptoms-Week-11

11 weeks pregnant and have a lot of questions in mind? No worries, read on to know about baby development and healthy pregnancy tips.

Baby Development:

Your baby is now in fig size

week 11 baby development

Baby at 11 weeks measures around 41mm long from head to toe. This is about the size of a lime. Your baby has got a thin layer of skin underneath which veins and arteries are developing. Your baby's face is now more human-like. The fingers and toes which were webbed are now starting to separate. Delicate fingernails and hair follicles have formed. The eyes remain shut. The 11-week fetus has functioning organs now and is breathing the amniotic fluid. Baby's sex organs are still developing, so 11-week ultrasound won't be able to determine the sex of the baby yet! 11 weeks pregnant ultrasound could show the body movements of the baby but you will be able to feel the movements only after a few more weeks.

Body Changes

Your body metabolism has increased by 20%, raising your body temperature. This may make you sweat more. By the end of this week, you will be able to feel the top of the uterus carrying the baby at 11 weeks pregnancy, as it grows until your pelvic bone. 11 weeks pregnant bump may show if it's not your first pregnancy. As your 11 weeks pregnant belly is stretching out, you might feel itchiness. In such case contact your doctor for topical creams to relieve the itchiness.

Find your due date/Calculating your due date:

Unless you've been tracking your ovulation, for a health practitioner to exactly know when you ovulated and conceived is hard to say. Most women ovulate about two weeks after the first day of their period. So, to calculate a standard timing, most health practitioners calculate the due date from the first day of your last menstrual period.

Invest in a non-wired supportive bra for your growing breasts. Wear loose clothes to avoid feeling overheated. Food cravings are normal but if you start craving for non-edible substances like dirt, chalk or clay, contact your doctor because it is a sign of vitamin or mineral deficiency.
